Project
The Oued Zarga-Bou Salem highway link, with a length of 70 km (excluding the Beja and Bou Salem ramps), is part of the East-West axis of the motorway scheme adopted for the economic and social development plan in Tunisia. This highway link is part of the trans-Maghreb link that will eventually connect Libya, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco. The road chosen for the project crosses a mainly mountainous area.
- The project includes 3 major interchanges and their access ramps (2x2 lanes), with a total length of 9km.
- The highway section includes 20 reinforced concrete bridges with an average length of 60ml, as well as their access roads (approximately 700ml per structure)
- The hydraulic structures are 72 in number and are designed for a 100-year return flood frequency. Four large hydraulic structures (GOH), all founded on piles, crossing a major flow are mentioned:
- GOH 16: Oued Zarga: Bridge with beams of 4 spans of 20m (80ml)
- GOH 37 :Oued Bou Aouina: Bridge with 3 spans of 20m (60ml)
- GOH 39:Oued Béja: Bridge with 4 spans of 20m (80ml)
- GOH 75: Oued Kasseb: 4-span 20m (80ml) girder bridge
- The typical cross-section of the highway comprises
- two carriageways, each 7m wide
- two 3m wide hard shoulder lanes (BAU)
- a central reservation (TPC) of 12m width: including two left-turn lanes (BDG) of 1m width each and a median lane of 10m width;
- a berm on the outer side 1m wide;
- a 0.50 m wide embankment rounding or a drainage device on the cuttings.
