SCET-TUNISIE, at the heart of reflection and research into water issues, was present at the 5th Mediterranean Water Forum, held in Tunis from 5 to 7 February 2024 at the invitation of the Tunisian Ministry of Agriculture, Hydraulic Resources and Maritime Fishing, with the support of SONEDE.
As part of the preparations for the 10th World Water Forum, to be held in Bali in May 2024, all the stakeholders concerned by water issues in the Mediterranean have mobilized through a regional event, the Mediterranean Water Forum, a platform for exchanging and consolidating know-how and experiences that can provide solutions and responses to the drought situation that has plagued the region for several years.
After Marrakech (Morocco) in 2011, Murcia (Spain) in 2014, Cairo (Egypt) in 2018 and Malta in 2021, it is in Tunis that the representatives of States, decision-making bodies, local and regional authorities, parliamentarians, donors, representatives of businesses and professionals, regional networks and civil society have come together to discuss the following themes:
- WEFE nexus (Water/Energy/Food/Environment)
- A new vision of supply (water mix) and demand by 2050
- Prevention and management of droughts and floods
- Regulation, the right to water and water law, conflict prevention/resolution
- New partners in water financing and performance monitoring
- Digitalization and new solutions dedicated to the rational use of water
