Project
The objective of the blue operational and scientific complex (COS) project is to contribute to equitable economic growth by promoting sustainable fishing in Mauritanian waters. The project is part of the context of achieving SDG 14 – aquatic life. The creation of the blue COS to be implemented on the site of the blue towers in Nouadhibou will make it possible to bring together the GCM and the IMROP on the same site, thus providing a dedicated infrastructure and scientific capacities promoting synergy between two key institutions for the management of sustainable resources of the country's fishery resources.
Our mission
The consultant's mission is to establish the following studies in accordance with KfW sustainability guidelines, World Bank standards as well as Mauritanian regulations:
- An environmental and social impact study (ESIA) in accordance with national regulations;
- a stakeholder engagement plan (PEPP), including a grievance mechanism consistent with the World Bank E&S framework
- An ESIA report including an ESMP conforming to international standards;
This work requires synergy between national and international teams to define the initial state of the site, identify and analyze the stakeholders, identify, analyze and mitigate the impacts of the project in the construction and operation phase to ensure the achievement of a complex meeting sustainable development objectives.
