Projet
The road starts at Muyembe at the end of the tarmac road from Mbale and ends in the center of Nakapiripirit town. The route covers a total length of approximately 92Km and forms an important link in the national road network and contributes significantly to the economic prosperity of north eastern Uganda. The road upgrading will also assist the administrative and social coverage in the region, reduce vehicle-operating costs and improve social services and trading opportunities.
Muyembe-Nakapiripirit road is an existing gravel road traversing uninhabited land and passing through some small villages. The road is currently a gravel road of class C, in a poor condition and the overall riding quality being rated as unsatisfactory on most of the road stretches. The width of the existing carriageway varies from 3m to 6m. The shoulders are approximately 1.5m wide and can only be used for slow over-takings of trucks and buses.
Consistency of the works:
- The construction of a bituminous Road of 92km between Muyembe and Nakapiripirit and secondary link roads (town roads) of 25km;
- The construction of 6 Bridges over rivers crossing the road;
- The maintenance of the existing Bridge “Seretryo Bridge” a mixte Bridge of 18m;
- Construction of hydraulic structures (40 Boxes Culverts, 159 pipes culverts);
