Project
The project concerns the central loop of the light metro of Tunis with its 3 light metro stations: Bab El Khadhra, La république and the multimodal exchange pole of Place Barcelone.
The components of the project are as follows:
- A major redevelopment of Barcelona Square
Restructuring of the track layout as well as the catenary and regrouping of the platforms (reversal of direction and separation of the tracks of the different lines). - Creation of an underground bus station as well as functional facilities (ticket offices, shops, technical rooms, offices etc. ....). - Creation of a two-storey underground car park - Creation of the subways - Installation of various equipment (lifts, escalators, pumping station, smoke extraction, etc.) - Addition of a third track at the level of the Carthage triangle - Creation of green space on the surface.
- Development work at République station
Modifying the track layout and the catenary to allow for the reversal of the traffic direction. - Lowering of the platforms with demolition of the platforms, shelters and reconstruction of the station - Creation of a second pedestrian subway on the side of the el Fath mosque.
- Creation of a central lane for re-routing at Bab el Khadhra
The station's track layout will be redesigned to add a central track to allow for the turning of West and North-West line trains (addition of the new track, work on the catenary and modification of the power supply). - A redesign of the roadway and its dependencies at the level of Avenue Béchir Sfar, construction of a ticket office and drainage of the roadway and the metro platform.
