Projet
The assignment consists in the study of a road / rail bridge crossing the Congo River and giving a road and rail link between the two Congos (Congo Republic and Democratic Republic of Congo).
14 possible sites have been preselected to cross the Congo River, among which 3 locations have been selected for preliminary design: "Ngombé", "Gare à gare" and "Maluku Maes".
At the end of the preliminary phase, the consultant was asked to study a fourth option located near Maluko Trechot river part. This option was finally selected for the detailed design.
The Maloukou Tréchot site is located:
- On the right bank, Republic of Congo (RC), about 65 km from Brazzaville by road.
- On the left bank, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the site is currently not accessible by road. It is located about 12 km upstream of the town of Maluku which is about 75 km from Kinshasa.
- The selected site is 60 km away from the two capitals by river.
After a comparative study of three possible precise locations of the river crossing axis, the choice of a crossing located about 2.5 km from the village of Maloukou Tréchot was chosen.
At the exact location of the planned bridge the river is about 1,300 m wide and has dug a deep bed in the substratum made up of the Stanley Pool soft sandstone, which depth varies between 25 and 35 m.
Notre mission
- Study of 3 variants of road layout for each of the three variants: an average of 100km of railway layout and an average of 40km of road alignment (Bituminous concrete pavement). The multi-criteria analysis of the three variants recommended an alignment, which included a 2000 m long tunnel or coastal road.
- Detailed design of the approved option bridge, access roads and rail connections.
- Preparation of tender documents and assistance to the client during the works procurement stage.
